Create-A-Thon is a school wide event invented by New Technology High School in the school year of 2018-2019. The event required students to draw art digitally and traditionally, and then put it into after effects to light it up. The art was then put into a video by the Digital Design Class with their original videos for the Napa Lighted Art Festival. It was then changed to a Global scale in the school year of 2019-2020. Before the event started, the Digital Design Class planned how the day of the event would go. They set up computers in each class the day before. They also set up light tables and drawing tablets for the students to use in order to make lighted art. The Digital Design Class also had roles for the day of the event. I was assigned to go from class to class making sure every student knew what they were doing, and if they needed help I would help them along with a couple other fellow classmates from Digital Design Class. This year for Create-A-Thon was very different from the first year in many ways. This year the students did not have to teach children from another school while also making art for the Create-A-Thon. The students also participated more in this one. All art was used in the global showcase at the Napa Lighted Art Festival. Last year's event was competition based. Schools from around the world participated, and submitted art for the global showcase too. I learned that we need to change a few things in the next year so we will be more prepared for the Create-A-Thon next year. I think that my favorite part of the Create-A-Thon was not the event itself, but seeing all of the artwork showcased on to the building. After the event ended, I learned that teaching is an incredibly hard thing to do, but I walked away with the skill of being reliable, and persistent with the programs when they were being troubling.
