So for passion week 3, I finished designing the designs I wanted to for the entirety of this project. I decided to make the flower crown for Tom an array of purple flowers. I also want to make a royal crown for Tom. After designing what props I wanted for them I wrote down a list of materials. Then I went out to go get the materials in order to make the accessories. First I worked on the flower crown, and started piecing the pieces together. Progress below: Next I worked on the piercings/spiked collar for Creed. Unfortunately I was unable to make industrials for Creed because his ear does not have enough clearance to make the piercing work. I really enjoyed making the spiked collar, there was moments where I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it work but the Vinyl worked properly!
On week 2 I focused on making accessory sketches for me to go off of. I made creed two different sets of accessories one being piercings and a spiked collar, the other being his drama mask that is a part of his original Ref. For Tom I started working on making her a flower crown, but I would like to look at closer references of flowers before I continue with her flower crown.
For this year I wanted to embrace one of my favorite hobbies and build upon that. I would like to draw out a template of my fursuit heads, and then design props or accessories for them, in which later I will physically make. So far I have drawn out both of the templates I would like to use.
Artistic liberty sketches are where a commissioner pays me to draw their character in any way I want to. They are allowed to give me a description of their character in which Incan form an idea of how to draw the character. These range from 10-25 dollars. To see more I now have an artistic liberty page in my digital art page! In American Studies we were tasked to take 6 photos that represent modern day, and the 1920s of the past. The first photo was taken of me dressed in clothes that matched that time frame. It corresponds with the modern day photo directly under it. They show the difference between clothes. The second photo shows the difference between bottle shape. I thought that the first one shows the older style used back in 1920s. The last photo shows an older camera that was made in the late 1910's vs. our modern day phones. I thought that these photos worked really well in capturing the differences between times.
For my 2020 Passion Project in Digital Design, I will make a film using bits and parts of the game "Red Dead Redemption 2." I would like to do this because I started to get into Virtual Photography, and "Red Dead Redemption 2" has been my main focus for the photographs. The idea of doing a film came from an earlier video I made on New Years Eve. I would like to expand into the concept of making films with fragments of the game. I would also like to challenge myself in making the film an emotional piece of meeting a character but already learning that the person has passed on with the words being said and the music being played. I would like to make the viewer feel a connection with the character and the surroundings in the scene.
As I am doing this project I plan on having distant shots, close shots, and interactions. I want to film from multiple perspectives, but focused on one character. I want to make this with Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe After Effects.
The American Dream is different for every person. It can be peace, freedom, money, pursuits, purposes, and so many more things. The first phrase of The American Dream came from the 1931 book, “Epic of America.” The writer of the book James Truslow Adams said, "That dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement." The American Dream also faintly shows up in The Declaration of Independence saying, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” A more recent quote from modern society today via Suze Orman states, "... where you actually get more pleasure out of saving than you do spending. It's a dream where you live below your means but within your needs. You are not spending every penny, you are not impressing people. You are living a life where you can sleep at night and you are actually happy." I agree with all of these quotes in one way or another and some parts of them inspired me to write this one, "I believe that The American Dream to me is happiness, achieving my dreams, being with my friends, and being who I truly am and to live for myself not others." Payton Welch. The collage image I made is suppose to symbolize my friends, my dream job, my inspirations, my art, and my photography as a part of my American Dream. I feel like this collage worked out really well although I used just my phone to make it. It has all of my favorite things in it and overall makes me very happy just looking at it. I have learned that making a quote really has to come from the heart. It also takes patience and finding what you really feel about a phrase such as, “The American Dream.” What really is it? Is it such a highly praised phrase or is it negative to some? Does it describe Americans as a whole or each as an individual? So many questions are formed from this phrase used for centuries now.
