Create-A-Thon is a school wide event invented by New Technology High School in the school year of 2018-2019. The event required students to draw art digitally and traditionally, and then put it into after effects to light it up. The art was then put into a video by the Digital Design Class with their original videos for the Napa Lighted Art Festival. It was then changed to a Global scale in the school year of 2019-2020. Before the event started, the Digital Design Class planned how the day of the event would go. They set up computers in each class the day before. They also set up light tables and drawing tablets for the students to use in order to make lighted art. The Digital Design Class also had roles for the day of the event. I was assigned to go from class to class making sure every student knew what they were doing, and if they needed help I would help them along with a couple other fellow classmates from Digital Design Class. This year for Create-A-Thon was very different from the first year in many ways. This year the students did not have to teach children from another school while also making art for the Create-A-Thon. The students also participated more in this one. All art was used in the global showcase at the Napa Lighted Art Festival. Last year's event was competition based. Schools from around the world participated, and submitted art for the global showcase too. I learned that we need to change a few things in the next year so we will be more prepared for the Create-A-Thon next year. I think that my favorite part of the Create-A-Thon was not the event itself, but seeing all of the artwork showcased on to the building. After the event ended, I learned that teaching is an incredibly hard thing to do, but I walked away with the skill of being reliable, and persistent with the programs when they were being troubling.

In American Studies we were tasked to make a video portraying a breaking news segment on a scene where people were not treated equally. Our video had two separated segments one in Black in white to portray The Crucible segment and in color for the recent event segment. For the Crucible segment we decided on picking the scene where Reverend Parris asking Abigail Williams about the girls dancing in the forest. For our recent events segment we chose a border incident where a 16 year old got shot 16 times for crossing the border. Our video was made up of multiple video clips acted out by our group and was edited to fit in. We used Adobe apps to edit and export the video. The video was supposed to show people sad, confused, angered, and worried. I think that I could've done better making more clips but unfortunately we ran out of time. I think that the Final piece looked better than what I thought was capable but I wish I made an introduction segment and added more context to the recent events segment. Hopefully I will learn to manage more timely on how to take a video and edit it properly. Editorial Article Richard Cornish’s Hanging for being Gay was Unfair In The 1600s By Payton Welch The LGBTQ+ community has been discriminated against since the 1624s when Richard Cornish was executed for alleged homosexual acts with a servant in Virginia. "Richard Cornish a ship owner was accused of sodomizing a 19 year old shipmate William Couse. After Richard was hanged several mariners and villagers claimed that he was unjustly hanged." Two people including Richards brother, went against the governor and were punished greatly. It was unfair to Richard Cornish because he was hanged due to being homoesexual and doing the act of Sodomy. It was also unfair that no one was able to be present and testify for Richard Cornish. "What seemed to be a forced act of sodomy may have became a consensual relationship. His comment to Mathew about not mentioning what Cornish had done until they returned to England hints that Couse may have intended to lodge a complaint with the English authorities. " He later told Mathew only that Cornish "would have Bugard him" but refused to state whether the captain "did the fact."" says The Dictionary of Virginia Biography. Some people believe that the court was fair based on testaments, "On November 30, 1624, Couse testified before the governor's Council that on the afternoon of August 27, 1624, "Richard Williams als Cornushe" had forcibly sodomized him aboard the ship, then riding at anchor in the James River, and caused him "payne in the fundament" that left him "sore 3 or 4 dyes." He also reported that Cornish had apologized but later put his hands inside Couse's codpiece" but, although Couse testified the above statement He also did not state that Cornish did Sodom him, "He later told Mathew only that Cornish "would have Bugard him" but refused to state whether the captain "did the fact."" Richard Cornish was charged unfairly and on only evidence going against him. There should be no more cases like this one that is weighted by the fact that Richard was Gay and that he was accused but not proven to Sodom Couse. In game design we were tasked to make a video of our puppet that we previously made. It was a big learning experience. I learned how to edit multiple shots, how to change audio frequencies, and how to apply animation to a video. Here is the final video.
The lighted art festival projects final product was a beautiful show. Every project has a beginning, and my class was a part of that. Photo by: Israel Valencia, Infinity Visuals, www.infinityvisuals.com My class started with a project we called lightsaber. We added what we learned from that project to this. Although most of our results weren't in the final show mine made the cut. All though it was only for a couple seconds it shows the work our class put into the project at the beginning of the school year.
Working with Character Animate is a learning curve. We came into this project not knowing how to use it. As a class we are helping each other go further. I am getting a better understanding of how character animate works. This is the character I want to rig. He is the Mc in my game that I currently designed. I really enjoy seeing him come to life! I would like there be more options for hand rigging. It would be a lot of work to rig hands though so I don't expect it anytime soon. I traced the image in illustrator. And then started to rig it into character animate. I also plan to rig him to change into a werewolf. This adds onto his design. During the presentation I hope to be able to show his emotion and be able to get into his role. This will also give me a chance to not be nervous during the presentation. I hope this can help me gain more confidence too!
From the first video I learned that it is better to make a story and then build the game mechanics over or around it. From the second video I watched I learned about how to make a mechanics villan which is more of a final boss. It showed me how a Mechanic Villan works rather than a Narrative Villan. In the third video I learned that to make a good horror game you can use similar or foreign creatures to scare the player. This also means you have to find something close to the characther themself. In the fourth video I learned about the different types of monsters that can be used in horror games. In the fifth video I learned how to make a game have linear choices which could affect the game later. These game mechanics is very important to a game for every type of game. The monsters may be more for horror but can be applied in different ways. I focused more on horror genres and villans but also choices that are going to be made throughout making a game. The monsters could be seen in games like Silent Hill, and The Evil Within. This is useful so you can go around certain dropping points. It tells you how your game can have a good story that wont leave plotholes.
For our main dish we made pesto pasta. This involved pasta, cherry tomatoes, salami, and pesto. The physical changes in the pasta was when we sliced the cherry tomatoes, and sliced the salami. The pesto did not change. The pasta was chemically changed when we applied water salt and heat to it. Then we put the cooked pasta with the other ingredients and mixed them. This is considered a physical change. Then we topped it with a minimal amount of parsley this was also a physical change. I think that our dish had around 250 Calories, and 250,000 calories.
In chemistry we were assigned to make certain compounds by using their elemental formula. By doing this we got certain compounds and different ideas of how they can look. By doing this I get a better understand of how molecular levels work. |
